A new group – Optometry Northern Ireland – is likely to be launched later this year.
Formed from the negotiating committee for Northern Ireland Ophthalmic Opticians, its new title will be confirmed at an EGM later this year under the chairmanship of Ulster optometrist Alan Rundle.
Optometry Northern Ireland will follow in the footsteps of the similarly named groups in Scotland and Wales, and its aim will be to ‘drive forward a new GOS contract for all optometrists in the Province’.
Following changes to Scotland’s GOS contract the representatives of the profession want to hear views from practitioners on how optometry can evolve in Ulster.
