Vision charity Sightsavers has tied up with consumer brand giant Unilever to ‘foster greater health and hygiene practices’ in an effort to eliminate blinding trachoma in Ethiopia.
Unilever’s soap brand Lifebuoy’s School of Five programme would help students change their handwashing behaviours and make it into a habit, a statement said.
Sightsavers CEO Caroline Harper added: ‘In a country which has the highest burden of trachoma globally, this innovative public-
private partnership, aims to improve health and hygiene practices which is key to eliminating this infectious eye disease.’
