Singer claims to have had experimental eye surgery

Singer-songwriter Grimes claims to have had ‘experimental surgery’ on her eyes

Singer-songwriter Grimes has made the bizarre claim of having ‘experimental surgery’ on her eyes to block blue light and cure seasonal depression.

The musician, whose real name is Claire Boucher, referred to the procedure in a social media post outlining her daily training routine.

She said surgery involved the ‘removal the top film of my eyeball, replacing it with an orange ultra-flex polymer that my friend and I made in the lab this past winter.’

Dr Morris Waxler, former FDA research scientist, told the Daily Express: ‘It is unnecessary and a terrible idea. Goggles, medications, and time scheduling of exposure to sunlight should be sufficient to treat seasonal depression. Why any ethical surgeon would perform any such surgery is beyond me. I hope this is someone’s bad joke.’
