Skydiving optometrists raise £2,000

Sue and Ron Howie broke their target of £500 and raised £2,000

Optometrists Sue and Ron Howie have raised £2,000 for the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) after completing a 10,000ft skydive on March 15.

The pair free-fell for 30 seconds, reaching 120mph in the first 12 seconds, to 5,000ft when the parachute was deployed.

Speaking about the jump, Sue Howie, said: ‘The falling out of the plane was a surreal experience. I have no words to describe that overwhelming sensation of rushing towards the ground followed by the perfect calm, peace and serenity after the parachute was deployed.

‘We raised over £2,000 smashing our £500 target thanks to the generosity of some wonderfully generous friends, family, colleagues, patients and fellow mountaineers. We are so glad that we overcame our fears to step out of our comfort zone to raise such a great amount of money for Dundonnell MRT.’
