SMC highlights career path

The SMC is encouraging employees and employers to examine the career path available for optical assistants and practice support staff.

A new SMC brochure shows the Level 2 and Level 3 Optical Practice Support courses and qualifications together for the first time. Gordon Jones, SMC spokesman, believes this will make it easier for students and employers to appreciate the opportunities for career progression.

'We hope that by making both employer and employee fully aware of the career path and the benefits, it will allow them to make clear decisions regarding training,' he said.
