Snapchat Spectacles go on sale in the UK

Video recording sunglasses from social media app Snapchat have gone on sale for the first time in the UK.

The Spectacles capture photos and videos which are then sent to the user’s phone using Wi-fi or Bluetooth to be posted on Snapchat or sent to friends.

Amid privacy concerns, lights on the glasses indicate to the wearer and other people when the device recording.

Spectacles are available online and in specialised bright yellow ‘snapbot’ vending machines in five European locations including London for £129.99.

Since Spectacles were launched in America in November, users of the app have viewed more than 1.3 billion Spectacles Snaps.
