A new SpaMedica ophthalmology hospital launch in Chesterfield would offer NHS cataract surgery to patients across the region, with more than 12,000 Derbyshire residents estimated to live with the condition.
The state-of-the-art hospital, located just outside the town centre on Spire Walk, was expected to reduce waiting times from the national target of 18 weeks to just four to eight weeks from referral.
Hospital manager Kirsty Hardy said: ‘We have a fantastic new facility in Chesterfield and can’t wait to help patients from across Derbyshire get back to doing the hobbies and activities they love as soon as possible.’
SpaMedica’s Chesterfield clinic is the second within the county, with SpaMedica Derby opening its doors in 2020 to five-star NHS patient reviews, according to the company.
