SpaMedica praised with Dementia Friendly award

Alzheimer’s Society recognised the Chelmsford hospital for services to dementia patients

SpaMedica’s Chelmsford hospital received Alzheimer’s Society’s Working to Become Dementia Friendly award for improving its services towards people with dementia, their families and carers.

The Alzheimer’s Society recognised the hospital for working closely with the charity, and the Chelmsford Dementia Friendly community to enhance its patient offering.

This follows SpaMedica’s Dementia Action Plan, which has been rolled out across its 46 UK hospitals, providing helpful resources, such as dedicated notice boards, posters and booklets, dementia awareness training for staff, and the appointment of a dementia ambassador at each site.

Simon Shepherd, chief operating officer at SpaMedica, said: ‘We’re delighted for the team at Chelmsford that their hard work has been recognised. On a national level, I’m proud to say that their work is mirrored at SpaMedica sites up and down the country, as our national Action Plan demonstrates.
