NHS eye health provider SpaMedica celebrated its 15-year anniversary as it opened its 49th hospital, located in Telford.
The new site in Titan House on Euston Park will provide cataract surgery and YAG laser capsulotomy to local NHS patients and has a free transport service to and from the hospital.
In honour of the anniversary, SpaMedica carried out a social media campaign to spotlight its patients who have regained their independence after eye surgery.
Since opening in Manchester in 2008, SpaMedica has grown to employ more than 1,700 people, with 49 hospitals across the UK.
Richard Woodward, SpaMedica’s chief executive officer who joined in 2021, said: ‘Reaching our 15-year anniversary is a huge achievement, and I’m incredibly proud of the team for helping us get here. The future looks very bright, as we continue to grow our services and ensure as many people as possible can benefit from rapid access to high-quality treatment.’
Founder and former CEO Anil Pitalia added: ‘I remember when I started SpaMedica 15 years ago, I would say to all our team that we must treat every patient as though they were our own parents. It’s amazing to see how this culture of care continues to deliver best-in-class treatments to all patients.
‘I wish the team well for their journey of leadership in the field of ophthalmology, as they go on to open their 50th hospital in North Tyneside.’
