MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos, visited SpaMedica Taunton, an eye hospital specialising in NHS cataract surgery on Friday, February 21.
The MP was greeted by members of SpaMedica’s leadership team for a tour of the hospital, before an official opening ceremony.
Located in Portland House on Deane Gate Avenue, SpaMedica Taunton provided cataract surgery and YAG laser capsulotomy to local NHS patients, with waiting times of just 4-8 weeks.
The hospital, which opened its doors last October, offered a free transport service and complimentary parking on-site for its patients.
MP Gideon Amos said: ‘It was inspiring to witness the fantastic work being carried out by nurses, optometrists and the whole team. The hospital is clearly a major step forward in giving constituents access to the treatment they need.’
