New information on the benefit of using contact lenses to help with dispensing spectacles will be presented in this year's Presidential Address to the British Contact Lens Association.
Contact lens optician Nick Atkins, who began his year as president at the association's clinical conference last month, will present the results of a pilot study he commissioned with co-workers Dr Philip and Sarah Morgan of the University of Manchester.
The EASE (Enhancing the Approach to Selecting Eyewear) study is a new multi-centre study assessing the role of contact lenses in spectacle dispensing. Following dispensing, patients in the test group who had no previous contact lens history were asked questions about the experience and their attitudes to contact lenses.
