Specsavers Crowborough employee Isabel Nibbs was the 500th graduate of the multiple’s 16-week clinical technician training scheme to upskill optical assistants and further support optometrists.

The scheme gives participants the skills to perform diagnostic information gather and pre-assessment procedures under the supervision of an optometrist, in line with GOC delegation requirements, and supported optometrists.

Nibbs, who received a gift voucher and chocolates, said: ‘The clinician technician training has enabled me to become more confident with patients and have a deeper understanding of how to complete pre-screening efficiently.’

Specsavers’ co-founder Doug Perkins also sent a message of congratulations: ‘I want to thank you for taking the time and making the effort to complete your training. The clinical technician role is such an important role now and for the future. Well done,’ he said.
