Specsavers celebrates in flagship style

Specsavers Opticians 'flagship' outlet in London's Tottenham Court Road has notched up 20,000 patients in 14 months of business, the group has reported.

The company said there had been 'a phenomenal rate of growth' in the outlet's patient base since it opened in November 1999. Optometrist directors Raqia Hanif, Frank Metzstein and dispensing optician director John Swallow celebrated with the 20,000th customer, Sandra Lawrence, at a special appointment at the branch where Ms Lawrence received a 50 per cent discount on her frames and lenses, and a bottle of champagne. Ms Hanif said: 'Recommendation has been an important factor in our success, and Ms Lawrence came to us on a friend's recommendation. We have focused on offering our patients a distinctive atmosphere, a blend of friendliness and professionalism, and attention to detail is paramount.' Ms Hanif revealed that the practice now had 1,000 patients for Specsavers' contact lens home delivery service, Lensmail.
