Specsavers invited 80 optometrists from multiples and independents to free clinical skills workshops for Mecs (minor eye conditions) and glaucoma earlier this month at the University of Manchester.
Most delegates at the open-to-all workshop came from Greater Manchester but some travelled from as far as Kent and Worthing, a statement said.
Kevin Liu, Specsavers’ head of enhanced optical services for Specsavers and optometric director at the Sale and Altrincham stores, was responsible for running the workshops, supported by a team of Wopec assessors.
The Mecs workshop involved breakouts in small groups with assessors to cover Volk skills with model eyes and heads, structured Oral mock Osco, explain mock Osce, and referral mock Osce.
