Hundreds of Specsavers stores around the world entered in Specsavers’ sixth annual Clinical Photography competition which presents high quality images from fundus and slit lamp photography captured in Specsavers stores.
Chris Boyle, optometrist director at Specsavers Auckland, New Zealand was named Specsavers Clinical Photographer of the Year 2014 with his image of a cerulean cataract (pictured) the first time an anterior eye image has won the top prize.
Larissa McHugh from Specsavers Poole also won from the UK division with her image of dry AMD.
Simon Williams, director of clinical services and one of the judges, said: ‘While DRP images make up the vast majority of the entries, it was a stunning anterior shot that saw off the competition this year. The standard of all the imagery is always extremely high and serves as a superb visual example of the wide range of conditions that our practitioners see throughout the year.’
