The Specsavers PAC conference entitled 'Helping you find the solutions' attracted over 1,000 attendees last weekend.
The 12th annual event, which drew 1,400 visitors last year, was held at the ICC in Birmingham and offered delegates a fully-flexible CET programme worth up to 15 points.
A three parallel track programme consisted of clinical, dispensing and contact lens lectures and three corresponding quizzes. Barcode scanning enabled delegates the freedom to cross-over between lectures, while ensuring credits were tracked along the way.
Delegates heard from a variety of speakers discussing everything from the latest clinical and product updates to new developments in legislation, new approaches to patient management and problem-solving to new ways to inspire customers.
Among the speakers was Dr Stuart P Richer, chief of optometry at DVA Medical Centre, North Chicago, who presented lectures on ageing and nutrition and nutritional management of dry eye syndrome. Professor Stephen Parrish and solicitor Judith Chrystie updated delegates on the latest legal developments to affect dispensing and contact lens opticians.
Specialist workshops for pre-reg optometrists and trainee DOs were also held alongside the main tracks.
PAC chairman and Specsavers' director of professional services Paul Carroll said: 'This year's attendance has demonstrated that practitioners obviously enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of a clinical conference as well as the opportunity to attend really exciting presentations from the people shaping the future of optometry.
'Feedback on the day from delegates and speakers was extremely positive, and we now look forward to analysing the formal feedback in preparation for next year's programme.'
Next year's PAC Conference will be held on Sunday October 7 at the ICC, Birmingham.
