Specsavers places hundreds of jobs at risk

The multiple has announced that 450 office support jobs are at risk of redundancy

The UK’s largest multiple, Specsavers, has announced that 450 office support jobs are at risk of redundancy across its Guernsey, Nottingham and Southampton offices.

Workers in Specsavers’ 900 UK stores will not be affected by the redundancies, which have been announced following a significant slowdown in business during the coronavirus pandemic.

Specsavers CEO John Perkins said: ‘We have done everything we possibly could to avoid making people redundant, including implementing salary cuts for senior leaders, the introduction of part-time working arrangements and utilising the government’s furlough scheme.’

‘Moving forward, our single-minded focus is on rebuilding the business to protect the interests of our joint venture partners and their store teams.’
