The main PAC event, now in its 19th year, attracted 1,500 delegates and for first time, included staff from domiciliary arm Specsavers Healthcall. Ten halls at the ICC in Birmingham were utilised to offer lectures, workshops and peer discussions. A series of regional mini PAC events was also launched this year, with 1,200 staff taking part.

Paul Carroll, Specsavers’ Director of Professional Services, said: ‘With over 1,200 professional staff having already attend the mini PAC events earlier in the year – and with our pre-reg optometrist programme moving to a different date – we were prepared for numbers at the main conference to be down on previous years, and yet we still had delegate numbers that other conferences only dream of.’
