Specsavers role supports student and pre-reg careers

Specsavers has appointed Bethany Cann to head of graduate recruitment and retention to support student and pre-reg optometrists transition to the working environment.

Cann will help equip new optometrists develop their clinical and professional skills, with a current focus on support around softer skills, such as communication.

She aimed to build on relationships with universities and work closely with partners in Specsavers community practices to best place pre-reg optometrists, as well as providing interview preparations and employability sessions.

Cann said: ‘The current generation of students has had a very different learning experience as the world moved online because of the pandemic. Some students aren’t used to being in a working environment and interacting with people. I’m looking at how we can help to help them and the wider eye health sector, which supports Specsavers’ purpose to change lives.’
