Specsavers takes the message to mobile phones

Specsavers Opticians' online contact lens service, Specsavers Direct, has become the official sponsor of the interactive MMS picture messaging soap opera, FanTESStic.
Developed by Endemol, the producers of Big Brother, FanTESStic is the UK's first soap opera to be distributed on mobile phones, and features 80 individual episodes, in a comic-strip style format, which will run for 16 weeks.
The story is about the adventures of a feisty, female DJ called Tess, and will feature Specsavers' logo at the start and end of each episode, as well as subtle Specsavers' contact lens references in the storyline. Marketing director Andrew Molle said: 'We are always looking for different ways to target and engage our various audiences, this is a ground-breaking, new media marketing tool. We are very interested to see how this develops.'
