Specsavers teams deliver eye care in Ghana

A team of optometrists at Specsavers travelled to Ghana in October to deliver services in a region where access to eye care is scarce.

They carried out sight tests for more than 1,300 people, dispensed more than 1,000 pairs of spectacles and referred 70 people for cataract surgery.

Teams from Specsavers Hinckley and Lutterworth were led by practice director and optometrist, Abhijit Roy, alongside practices in Bourne, Spalding and Holbeach.

They supported the work of the Ashanti Development charity and almost £9,000 was raised before the team left for Ghana, which was used to fund the cataract operations.

‘The Ashanti Development is something that is close to all our hearts.
