Staff from the Reading branch of Specsavers beat more than just eggs when they took on competitors from retailers such as Sainsbury's in the town's annual pancake race.
Crowds cheered as 24 teams raced through heats to set up a thrilling finale comprising Sainsbury's, TM Lewin and eventual victors Specsavers.
'It was fantastic to have won and we are very proud,' said assistant manager Jan Flack (above right). 'The competition was tough. It was our first time and we didn't know what to expect. We had a frying pan in the shop and practised running around,' she added.
