A Specsavers store manager who stole more than £5,000 from practice tills has been handed a 12-month community order at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Jenny-Lynne Nessworthy was caught on CCTV making cash refunds without a patient present after staff noticed suspicious refund activity. Financial loss investigators calculated Nessworthy had processed £5,790 in fraudulent refunds. She was called to a voluntary interview with the police where she admitted the thefts.
In court, Nessworthy said she had stolen the money to pay debts she had accrued while helping her mother recover from a stroke. She will pay £4,000 compensation to Specsavers.
