A former Specsavers practice manager has been given a three-month suspended jail sentence and ordered to do 240 hours of community service after admitting to defrauding the company out of £4,000 by processing fake refunds.
Christopher Weston admitted a series of charges at Cambridge Crown Court relating to his employment as manager of the Specsavers store in Fitzroy Street, Cambridge. The company became suspicious about the level of refunds over an 18-month period and installed covert CCTV cameras to monitor transactions. Weston said he had been desperate to pay-off student loans.
