Student DO erased

Fitness to practice

A student dispensing optician has been erased from the General Optical Council's registers after a fitness to practise committee found her guilty of misconduct.

Unique-Faith Sibanda, who did not attend the hearing, was alleged to have written a letter to City and Islington College between September and November 2011, purporting to have been signed by her then supervisor and employer.

In the letter, the registrant was alleged to have stated that she had started working as a full-time DO and the practice would sponsor her for the final year of her studies. It was also alleged she instructed the college to invoice the practice.
