A student dispensing optician, who was sacked by Boots Opticians in Birmingham city centre but returned two weeks later to steal five designer frames worth £715, has been suspended from the GOC register for three months.
A disciplinary hearing held in London on Monday was told that Minhal Shiraz Alloo had appeared at Birmingham Crown Court over the theft and was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
The court heard that he had persuaded a member of staff at the practice that he was entitled to the frames. Alloo claimed he had paid the cost price of £100 for them.
Appearing before the fitness to practise panel this week, Alloo admitted misconduct by committing the theft on July 23 2005.
