Sutton's profitable jump for charity will be his last

'Never again' was the verdict of Daventry optometrist James Sutton after taking a 12,000ft parachute jump for charity.

'I don't enjoy fast rides at theme parks or flying, so I don't know why I did it,' he admits. 'But it was quite an experience. I was worried beforehand, but everyone seemed so blasè about it when we arrived that it seemed the natural thing to do.' James didn't have a parachute. Instead he was strapped to an instructor for the jump, which was a freefall to 7,000ft, when the chute opened above Sibson Airfield, Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. That is when the world started spinning rather more than he liked. James' feat, with sponsorship by Keeler, helped raise &\#163;1,200 for Fight for Sight and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Another &\#163;500 was raised by a friend and the total was split equally between the charities. His ambition now is to run in the London Marathon. 'It's something I've always wanted to do, but it won't be next year. I haven't started training yet.'
