Bath-based shopfitting firm Design Base recently carried out a practice refit and change of brand identity for T Taylor Optician in Portadown, Northern Ireland.
The aim of the project, which took two weeks to complete, was to provide a Ômajor faceliftÕ and create a bold new identity, delivering the message of eye care service and choice in a fashion environment, explained Giles Harrod of Design Base.
ÔThe original shopfit comprised faded blue Hessian-coated, wall-mounted boards with frame holders visibly screwed into place. Lighting, flooring, decor, reception desk and window presentation were all poor and a central fixture created a major visual barrier within the sales floor.Õ
Having carried out structural work and levelled the undulations in the floor, the design company used ÔMapleÕ Amtico flooring and teal carpeting to provide a contrast between the different areas of the main sales floor, with a dominant curved theme.
The practice was also fitted with curved and flat laminated fixtures and lifestyle images, with full-height graphics that were visible both outside and inside the outlet.
Also included in the redesign were transparent tinted acrylic shelving and a new swan-necked frame presenter in varying heights.
Windows, described previously as cluttered, were stripped of point-of-sale material and new sills were installed to accommodate maple and acrylic podiums.
A bespoke reception desk was designed to accentuate the elliptical theme, with curved lighting overhead. Contemporary-styled seating was added to the retail and waiting areas.
Mr Harrod said reaction to the refit was ÔphenomenalÕ.
