Taylor Optical Products has taken over the distribution of two eyewear brands, OWPand Mexx Eyes.
Taylor Optical began business in 1990 supplying specialist lenses to independent prescription houses. It stated that its reputation for a high degree of service was central to the granting of the exclusive distribution rights.
OWP creates more than 800 prototypes each year with 40 reaching the market in January, April and August. These are usually acetates, although this yearÕs collection includes Titanium-P (99 per cent pure) laser-welded for greater strength. Each metal frame has its base material combined with two layers of 24ct gold, palladium alloys with additional colour or lacquer coating which ensures that each piece exceeds the current EU nickel regulations. OWP produces more than 1,500 sample colours each year, with 150 of them used in the frames. There are 20 production techniques used to combine colour, material and design including discreet spring hinges.
The other brand is a relatively new one, Mexx Eyes. This youthful and fashionable range offers 32 metal and acetate models for both sexes.
Target customers are in their 20s and 30s who appreciate a mix of cool steel colours and warm acetate shades, such as havana with blue or matt copper with black.
