A team from Boots Opticians has raised more than £45,000 for Vision Aid Overseas through a sponsored ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak on the African continent.
‘Twelve people signed up from all over the country,’ said Simon Small, practice director at Boots Opticians Balham. ‘Each made sacrifices – taking time away from loved ones, from work, organising charity events to raise the money, investing in kit and many hours of gruelling training – in order to help Vision Aid Overseas with their great work.
‘Conditions varied from baking hot sun to freezing temperatures at night in thin tents. A team of enthusiastic local porters and guides, sharing their mountain and culture, helped to motivate us every step of the way to the 5,895m high summit.’
