Optometrist and joint venture partner at the Wembley and Edgware branches of Specsavers, Rakesh Kapoor, recently completed a six-day trek to the summit of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, and raised over £2,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Kapoor walked over 50 miles during the trip and trekked to the 5,895m high summit in temperatures of down to -20°C.
'The whole experience really challenges your physical and mental ability, but with the support from friends and patients who sponsored me, I pushed myself to the top,' said Kapoor, who added that the biggest challenges were the lack of oxygen and effects of altitude sickness.
