Thai floods hit Hoya facility

Manufacturing

Hoya Vision Care's manufacturing facilities in Ayutthaya, Thailand, have been forced to close following widespread flooding in the region. No Hoya employees were injured, but the severity of the flooding at the plant means it will be closed at least one month.

It has instigated contingency plans to ensure delays are kept to a minimum. All 11 Hoya labs in the European region, as well as partner labs, will be running around the clock and engineers from Asia will travel to Europe to participate in production.

Hoya said its equipment partners were preparing for additional installations in Europe and repair teams would be dispatched to Thailand when the floods subside.
