Thai Optical Group recovers from floods

Lenses

Thai Optical Group (TOG), which supplies ophthalmic lenses to the European optical market has now resumed prescription work and lens casting at its three manufacturing plants having battled the flooding in Thailand.

Production stopped mid October and resumed towards the end of November after test runs. With a combination of planning by the board, work by critical staff and the hiring of high-wheeled military trucks and boats, TOG was able to transfer key staff to protect and clean up their factories. Staff were housed in temporary dormitories and fed and clothed while they tackled the flood waters. The company is now working to claim back damages on insurance, both to property and business.
