Practitioners who witnessed the establishment of the NHS are being invited to take part in a BBC documentary.
The 90-minute documentary - commissioned to mark the 60th birthday of the NHS - will examine the reasons why the service was needed, who supported it, who opposed it and problems which had to be overcome in establishing it.
The production company is seeking medical professionals with experiences from these early days. 'We have heard from doctors and nurses, but it would be tremendous for those working in optometry to be represented as well,' said Faye Hamilton, assistant producer.
Those interested should contact Hamilton on 020 7267 4260 or email fhamilton@blastfilms.co.uk
