Thealoz Duo combines two key ingredients to improve dry eye performance

Spectrum Thea has introduced Thealoz Duo, a preservative free dry eye drop, which uses two active ingredients to offer better lubrication and longer relief from symptoms. 

The two agents which combine to provide the benefits for Thealoz Duo are Trehalose (3%) and Hyaluronic acid (0.15%).  Trehalose naturally  protects cellular membranes from extreme dryness, oxidation and temperature stress, said Spectrum Thea. It  protects the corneal epithelial cells from dehydration and defends the cells against the increased osmolarity found in the tears of a dry eye sufferer.

Hyaluronic acid, also naturally present in the body,  retains water and releases it slowly. When used on the ocular surface it increases viscosity as the eyelid opens and decreases when the eyelid closes. This, claims Spectrum Thea, prolongs resistance time across the ocular surface in comparison to other eye drops, improving the stability of the tear film due to its viscoelastic properties. Spectrum Thea said Thealoz Duo is ideal for dry eye from a range of causes such as air conditioning, dry environments, working with computers, hormonal Dry Eye and wearing contact lenses.
