An audacious thief managed to stroll out of an independent practice with 21 pairs of designer Lindberg frames concealed in his clothing.

He dropped the frames down his right sleeve during a heist at Clamp Optometrists in Cambridge last week.

Footage was recorded on CCTV cameras in the practice but the man has not yet been caught by police.

Daniel Hardiman-McCartney, optometrist and managing director of Clamp Optometrists, estimated the retail value of the frames at over £6,000.

He said: 'I am completely shocked by the audacity of this theft, it was clearly planned and they knew exactly what they wanted. As an independent optician, to lose this amount of stock in the current climate economic climate is a very bitter pill, although I am very grateful no one was hurt during the incident.'
