In particular, digital imaging products, space-saving instrumentation and computerised instrumentation have been at the forefront of a very busy year. Both Topcon's IMAGEnet and Optilink imaging systems have been selling in increasing numbers and the optometry and hospital market have been particularly buoyant. We have continued to increase our market share in both of these areas and the diabetology sector of the market has grown significantly through IMAGEnet increasing the number of users and the reputation of the product. The optometry market has also been investing heavily, and again Topcon's whole range of imaging related products have been at the forefront of activity. Topcon's non-mydriatic fundus camera the TRC NW6s, which is capable of producing an 85 fundus image using unique mosaic software has been the star of the company's year. The imaging slit lamps and combined AutoK/Refractometer Topographer the KR8100PA have been increasingly popular linked through Topcon's clinical database management package, Optilink. With a new year just about to begin and with Optrafair just weeks away, our projections for the coming year are healthy and prosperous. Digital imaging and computerisation will continue to be at the forefront of Topcon activity and the company believes that new advances in ophthalmic technology coupled with a number of exciting new products that it plans to launch over the next year, will add a new dimension to a market becoming increasingly responsive to technological advances. email: John.daymond@topcon.co.uk
