The Acuvue Toric lens features a constant stabilisation design, says the company, which provides an ultra-thin independent optic zone. This enables the sphere, cylinder and axis of the corrective prescription in the centre of the contact lens to separate the vision correction zone from the stabilisation zones. Vistakon states that this design feature produces outstanding visual acuity regardless of the corrective prescription or position of the eye. It adds that the lens contains the optimum balance of water content and thickness, resulting in a high level of oxygen transmissibility and prolonged lens wear. Julie Wilks, Vistakon marketing manager, commented: 'The design, as well as the exceptional reproducibility Acuvue is known for, leads to increased confidence in toric fittings and lens replacement.' The lens has a base curve of 8.7mm, 14.4mm total diameter, and is available in sphere powers of plano to -6.00D in 0.25 increments with cylinder powers of -0.75D, -1.25D and -1.75. It also features an UV blocking feature, common to the company's Acuvue lens range, which provides added protection for astigmatic patients.
