CooperVision, currently the second largest worldwide toric lens supplier, aims to become number one by next year, an aim that prompted the acquisition of Aspect in December 1997. Worldwide sales of CooperVision's lenses have grown from &\#163;48m in 1993 to an estimated &\#163;210m plus this year. In the planned replacement/disposable toric market, the company states that sales grew by over 70 per cent in 1998, led by its Preference Toric, while the market grew overall by 40 per cent. The Hydrasoft Toric, a 55 per cent water content lens, comes in six million parameters in spherical powers to 20.00D, and cylinder powers to 10.00D in 1 steps around the clock. Hydrasoft Spheres are also available, coming in four base curves and two diameters. The Preference Toric, a 43 per cent water content lens, offers more than 15,000 parameters in two base curves, a wide range of plus and minus spherical powers and four cylinder powers in 5 steps around the clock. Preference Standard lenses are also available, coming in three base curves and two diameters. The launch of the toric range is another step in the development of Aspect Vision Care as a 'full-line' provider. Practitioners are offered advice and guidance on the fitting of the toric lenses by professional services manager Mike Covey in the first issue of Aspect's clinical newsletter. - Further information on: 0870 9000 055.
