PPG announced the UK launch of its new Tribrid lens material at Optrafair.
Tribrid lenses have been developed using a hybrid approach that merged elements of the chemistry for Trivex lenses with traditional high-index lens chemistry. The resulting Tribrid product has a refractive index of 1.6 and is said to offer the advantages of such an index along with increased strength.
'Tribrid material represents the next evolution in lens material technology,' said Frederic Lefranc, director of sales PPG. 'It expands upon the foundation of Trivex material that the industry has come to trust - clarity, lightweight, strength and UV protection - and it makes those desirable attributes available in a thinner lens to meet the everyday visual needs of patients with higher prescription requirements.'
