Tribunal order to Specsavers

A preliminary hearing in front of an industrial tribunal for unfair dismissal was postponed last week until February 6.

The case, brought by Mervyn Slater of Finchley, against Basildon Visionplus, was heard last Friday at Stratford, East London. The respondent, Specsavers Optical Group, won a postponement following the failure of Slater's defence to follow the tribunal's directions on the provision of agreed evidence.
Ahead of the next hearing, the tribunal has ordered that Specsavers should supply Slater's defence team with all documents related to decisions by the Inland Revenue on the status of locum optometrists. The order relates to Specsavers covering the period 1996 to 2003.
