Advice has been issued to help low vision patients deal with the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs this month.
Sight loss charity Thomas Pocklington Trust and Ricability (Research Institute for Consumer Affairs) have published an essential guide to buying energy saving light bulbs.
The three-year phasing out of bulbs with glowing filaments was completed on September 1 when shops could no longer sell 40W or 25W bulbs.
The government expects the changeover to save up to £108m over this decade but there has been resistance to the change to energy-saving bulbs, including the higher upfront cost and the slow start-up time of some of the cheaper bulbs.
