A consultation on the future direction of UK Vision Strategy has been welcomed by the Optical Confederation and College of Optometrists.
Responding to plans to refresh the organisation, David Hewlett from the Optical Confederation said: 'We know that many of the recent successes to improve eye health such as the first ever public eye health indicator have resulted from when the optical sector works together for a common purpose.
'This refresh is a real opportunity to look again at the strategy to ensure that it is still on track to reduce avoidable blindness by 2020.'
The consultation opened on July 16 and closes on November 16. A total of 650 organisations contributed to setting up UK Vision Strategy when it was first launched in 2008.
