UltraVision launches Kerasoft

Following its acquisition last year by North America-based contact lens manufacturer Specialty UltraVision, Igel International has announced that it will now trade as UltraVision International.

The Bedfordshire-based company says it will continue to supply innovative product ranges including multifocal toric lenses, and its Specialty Choice AB monthly disposable lens. UltraVision states that it has a strict policy of optician-only supply, aiming to keep its lenses out of non-traditional distribution channels. It adds that a new soft lens, Igel Kerasoft, is now available in the UK for patients who require a keratoconus fitting. The company states that the lens offers a level of visual acuity which is comparable with that provided by a rigid lens, but with the advantages of comfort and positional stability of a soft lens. With 58 per cent water content, it adds that the lens is made from non-ionic material and features an UV filter. For more details contact the company's customer services department on: 0800 585115. - The company has also announced an extension to its empirical fitting system in response to the latest General Optical Council policy statement on vCJD and diagnostic lenses. It says this will include lens types not covered by its present system, such as coloured and prosthetic lenses. Practitioners with further queries should contact the company's customer service department or its professional services department on: 01525 381112.
