Ultravision, the parent company of contact lens manufacturer Igel International, has been granted marketing approval to launch its UV-blocking contact lens line by the Food and Drug Administration in the US.
The approval includes the spherical and toric moulded disposables currently marketed in the UK and Europe under the brand names Omega 56 and Delta Toric. Vincent Zuccaro, Ultravision chief executive officer, says the company is the first in the US to introduce a UV-blocking, disposable toric contact lens.
