The Hakim Group has expanded its presence in Scotland after Urquhart Opticians added its eight optical practices by joining the optical company.
Robert Urquhart first opened a practice in Dreghorn in 1916 and the independent was taken over by Peter Telfer, managing director, and Alistair Duff, clinical director.
Telfer said the Hakim Group’s culture, values and patient centred approach aligned with Urquhart’s and he could see why many practices were joining Hakim’s ‘innovative approach to independent optometry.’
‘The more we got to know Imran, Luke and the team at Hakim Group, the more we were sure this was the right move for Urquhart’s. Moving forward, working with Hakim, we will continue to provide our patients with the very best care and continue our support of the communities we serve,’ Telfer said.
Luke Wren, head of business development at Hakim Group, said: ‘Urquhart Opticians is one of Scotland’s leading eye care specialists with a forward-thinking team that is always looking to innovate, while doing great work in their community. With more than 100 years of history behind them, we look forward to helping ensure the next chapter in Urquhart’s continued evolution is even more successful.’
