Runcorn MP Derek Twigg has paid a visit to Runcorn Specsavers to meet members of Central Mersey Local Optical Committee.

Stuart Jones (pictured right), optometrist director at Runcorn Specsavers, told the politician about glaucoma referral refinement initiatives and diabetic screening programmes the LOC has been involved in.

Jones said: 'The visit was a valuable one to help convey the message that optometrists play a valuable role in primary care in their local community. It is increasingly important with future political changes that local optical committees are active in helping to influence decisions that are made at local and national level.'
