Optician clinical editor Bill Harvey was a speaker at the 2012 Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) conference held at the Association of Optometrists this week.
The theme for the event was 'Eye care and primary health development,' which focused on the impact and delivery of charitable eye care projects overseas, sustainability versus direct aid and the global prevalence of visual impairment.
VAO communications manager Lucy Jenkins said: 'It was fantastic to have such eminent speakers discussing so many varied topics concerning development and eye care. I hope everyone left the event armed with a little more knowledge of the issues surrounding international eye care.' Other speakers included past president of the African Council of Optometry Dr Uduak Udom, Professor David Thomson and Dr Robert Lindfield.
