Vision Aid Overseas has opened a vision centre at a hospital in the Burkina Faso capital of Ouagadougou.
A team of volunteers from the charity spent two weeks setting up the centre, installing equipment and training ophthalmic nurses in refraction, glazing and dispensing.
VAO programme director Richard Rawlinson said: ‘For the first time, patients will have access to low cost spectacles manufactured exactly to their prescription.’
