Vision Aid Overseas has continued expanding its project to establish vision care in Zambia.
The charity has installed its fourth vision centre at the Livingstone General Hospital in Southern Province. A team of volunteers led by Peter Howard offered operational management training of technicians at the hospital.
They also added a two-station refraction room, a diagnostic screening room for visual field screening and auto-refraction, a frame dispensing room and a spectacle glazing workshop.
Installation of the centre was funded by Specsavers, while VAO plans to open centres in each of Zambia's nine provinces by 2015 through a partnership with the multiple.
